In late March 2017 Carney arrived at HMNB Clyde in Scotland in preparation for NATO Exercise Joint Warrior. On 27 July, the frigate bought underway and, after an impartial transit of the Atlantic, finally arrived in Rota on 3 August. In September 1948, she was assigned to obligation with the 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean and, in the spring of 1949, was transferred to the 2nd Fleet for workouts within the Caribbean. Through the spring of 1958, she offered logistic help to antisubmarine groups in the western Atlantic.
